About One Touch Dial

• What is One Touch Dial?

  One Touch Dial is a smart dialer application that allows you to make low cost international calls from your mobile handset while maintaining great usability. One Touch Dial Dial allows you to call directly from your handset’s contact list, call log, or speed dial, without having to dial access numbers or PIN codes. It does so by automatically identifying outgoing international calls and routing them via the Tata trueroots platform.

• What does One Touch Dial cost?

  As part of our Introductory Offer, Trueroots from Tata Communications is currently offering One Touch Dial download free to its customers. There is no monthly fee.

• Does One Touch Dial expire?

  The One Touch Dial application does not expire. However, if you are using a prepaid account you will have to recharge your account once it is empty. In that case, there is no need to reinstall the app.

• What benefits do I get if I use the One Touch Dial service?

  One Touch Dial allows you to make low cost & high quality calls via Tata, while maintaining great usability and no extra effort. You can make international calls from your Address book, speed dial, call log or keypad just like you would do normally and the app takes care of the rest. There is no need to dial access numbers or PIN codes.

Requisites for One Touch Dial

• What types of phones are supported?

  One Touch Dial is compatible with a vast range of models, such as Blackberry, Windows Mobile & Nokia Symbian S60v3. For the complete list of phones supported, please click here.

• Does this application work with both GSM and CDMA networks?

  Yes. Both GSM and CDMA Networks support One Touch Dial.

• Do I need a Data Plan and ability to receive SMS for my phone?

  Windows Mobile & Symbian users can download the app to their PC and install it on their mobile handset via cable/Bluetooth. However, in order to install on Blackberry phones you will require a data plan. Note that if you do not have an SMS plan you can follow the link in the email that was sent to you during provisioning.

• What do I do if I don’t have a Data Plan?

  In case you don’t have a data plan, then please contact your service provider to subscribe for the service.

Sign up and installation

• How do I Sign-Up for One Touch Dial?

  You have to be a trueroots customer to sign up for One Touch Dial.

  1. Please logon to your account.
  2. You would see the One Touch Dial Download Now icon on this page.
  3. Please click on this icon and you will be redirected to a sign up page for One Touch Dial.
  4. On completing the registration, you would receive an SMS on your Smart phone.
  5. Click on the URL received in the SMS.
  6. Click on ok/accept for terms and condition and follow the instructions that you get on your smart phone to complete the installation.
  7. On successful installation, you would be able to see the Tata (roundel T logo) in your application list.

• Can I register through a customer care executive?

  No, you need to log in to www.trueroots.us, www.trueroots.co.uk, www.trueroots.ca website to register for this service

• What information do I need to provide to sign-up for this service?

  You will have to provide your mobile number on which you wish to receive the One Touch Dial application, cell phone details like handset make, model, your email address, and whether you want to opt for calling ITFS or Local access numbers.

Using One Touch Dial

• Can I start making calls immediately after I install One Touch Dial on my phone?

  Sure, once you have completed the installation according to the installation guide, you can start enjoying the One Touch Dial service immediately.

• How to temporarily disable my One Touch Dial?

  Open the application by clicking the One Touch Dial. On the right hand corner, you can see the Mode option. Please set the ‘Mode’ option to ‘Off’. This will disable your application. Please note that you have to exit the application by clicking on the Back button and Save Changes while exiting the application.

  If you do not save the changes while exiting the application, in handsets like the Blackberry, your calls would still be routed through the trueroots platform while making international calls. To re-enable your application, simply change the ‘Mode’ option back to the previous option ( i.e. select the option “ On international calls “ )

• Can I call local USA UK, Canada phone number using One Touch Dial ?

  No. One Touch Dial enables you to call only international numbers via trueroots platform.

• Will I use my airtime when using One Touch Dial ?

  Yes. When the call is routed from mobile/cell phone to a local Toll free number, airtime charges will be applicable as per your cellular service provider.

• How do I make an international call using One Touch Dial?

  Just like making a domestic call: simply dial an international number from your Address book, speed dial, call log or keypad. One Touch Dial will automatically route the call via Tata global network. No additional keystrokes/steps are required.

  Please note that the calls have to be prefixed by 00 or 011. Please edit/store your phone book entries by this prefix.

  For e.g. To dial an India destination number 9225500000 using One Touch Dial just dial 009225500000. The software would do the rest. You would see a progress bar on completion of which the call would be connected

• Which option should I select – PINless or PINfull ?

  You can use One Touch Dial service with both PINfull & PINless feature to make international calls. However, to avoid any inconvenience, you have to make sure that your handset is set with the correct feature which is same as available against your trueroots account i.e. if your trueroots account is set for PINless dialing then please select “ Mobile No. already registered – PINless”. If your phone number is not registered, please select “Mobile Number not registered “ when registering for Smart Dial.

  Alternatively, once the installation is complete, you can change from PINless to the other option by clicking on One Touch Dial. On the right hand corner, you can see the Mode option. In the third option, you would see PINfull. Select PINfull if your mobile number is not registered. Select PINless option if your mobile number is already registered.

• Can I use One Touch Dial outside USA, UK, Canada?

  One Touch Dial is available in USA, Canada and UK. However since One Touch Dial currently works only in your home country, you should disable the app when going abroad by changing the Enabled option to ‘Off’.

• What are the chances of someone else misusing my service?

  One Touch Dial Service uses State-of-the-art technology that ensures there is no duplication of any service number for a possible misuse. It is your responsibility to protect your phone and PIN at all times.

• Do I need to enter any specific prefix before dialing the international number?

  Just dial any number on your mobile phone beginning with the '00' or ‘011' prefix and your call will be automatically redirected by trueroots.

• How do I know when my call has been routed using trueroots?

  After dialing an international call, you will hear “Welcome to trueroots” announcement. Also your phone screen will show a visual indication with the text “ Connecting using trueroots “. You would also see a progress bar while connecting to your destination. On completion of the progress bar, the call would be connected.

• What if One Touch Dial does not intercept the call?

  a. Make sure you dialed a number starting with 00 or 011
  b. Restart your phone
  c. Make sure you completed the installation process.
  For e.g. in MS Windows Mobile phones click Start Service button.

• Can I use One Touch Dial from multiple phones?

  You will need to provision the application for all handsets that you plan to use. You can provision your trueroots account with multiple phones.

• How do I transfer One Touch Dial to a new phone?

  You will need to re-provision the app for the new handset model. The same trueroots account can be used in the new phone.

• Will my Bluetooth headsets work with One Touch Dial?

  Yes. The Bluetooth headset works with One Touch Dial.

• How do I reinstall the One Touch Dial application?

  To reinstall the software you will have to first uninstall the existing software application. Follow the below mentioned steps to uninstall and then reinstall the application.

  a. Kindly look for the trueroots software by Tata Communications in your handset. The same would be available in any one of the folders like Tools or Application Manager in Menu. In case you are unable to locate the same, please refer the handset manual guide or call the customer care of your handset provider.
  b. The application icon trueroots has to be removed. Go to - Select (bottom left) > Remove.
  c. Once successfully uninstalled, login to your trueroots account and follow the same steps to reinstall the One Touch Dial application.

• How do I upgrade One Touch Dial to a new version?

  One Touch Dial users with Blackberry & Windows Mobile handsets can easily check if software updates are available online, Simply by opening the app and choosing the ‘Update’ option. If such an update is available, the update can be made using data connection.

• How much time will it take for the call to be connected?

  The call is connected seamlessly as soon as the dialed party is reached. It typically takes 20 – 40 seconds to connect the call depending upon the called party and whether you have configured for PINLESS. We encourage you to register for PINless dialing too.

• How do I use One Touch Dial when in different countries?

  When going out of your home country, you should disable One Touch Dial by changing the Mode option to ‘Off’.

• I am unable to connect to any International destination number using my phone’s calling service. What should I do?

  One Touch Dial is just the right service for you, since it routes your international calls via the Global No 1 Tata network. You can dial international numbers as if your plan allowed them, and One Touch Dial will do the rest.

• I already have an international calling plan. Will One Touch Dial override this plan?

  Yes. As long as One Touch Dial is turned on, it will automatically route your calls via Tata trueroots network, therefore overriding your existing plan.

• Will my cell phone company charge me for using One Touch Dial?
